Abstract

Organizations are always looking for a competitive advantage in order to cope with the competition and continue their growth and survival. Innovation is one of the most important methods. For this reason, researchers presented several innovation models. The main purpose of this chapter is to present and describe the types of innovation models in the production process in the digital age. Innovation in the production process in organizations means an organizational effort to fundamentally redesign product production processes and systems in order to achieve fundamental improvements in production performance indicators with an emphasis on digital technologies. Innovation in organizational processes includes various activities. Some pioneers of innovation in the production process focus on innovation in technology, while others emphasize on changing work processes and behavioral procedures in the organization. However, in the literature, innovation in the production process is mainly considered as a type of innovation, and no further classifications are provided about it. In this chapter, the types of innovation models in the production process are introduced and management expectations are discussed for each of them.
