Abstract

The change in the competitive environment of the market and the development of e-commerce have made it possible for companies to offer their products and services to a wide range of markets without geographic restrictions. Responding quickly to the diverse needs of consumers, which is one of the inherent characteristics of the world of e-commerce, has increased the importance of logistics and supply chain processes even more. For this reason, in today's world, the supply chain has become one of the most important elements of the global economy. Also, due to the volume of transactions in the business world, this chain is now much more complicated than in the past and faces more costs. Therefore, today's businesses in many industries are looking for ways to improve their supply chain situation. These new changes have forced the logistics industry to act smarter than before. Internet of things and big data analysis are among the most important technologies that lead to making the supply chain smarter. In the rest of this chapter, we will give a brief description of the applications of these two technologies in improving the state of the supply chain and the opportunities and challenges that these technologies bring to the supply chain.
